We appreciate your understanding and encourage all San Diegans to take the necessary measures to stay safe.Over 90 pit stops will be set up across San Diego County from 6:00 am – 9:00 am, where enthusiasts will shout for encouragement, offer rest stations, refreshments, snacks, and t-shirts. Several Encinitas and Carlsbad businesses have already registered and set their distribution location on iCommutesd.com. This event is designed to encourage environmental health and physical health while bringing the community together. In 2013 more than 8,400 people biked to work on National Bike to Work Day and more than 216,000 bicycle commute miles were logged within the entire month of May saving 9,400 gallons of gas and 6.6 million calories. iCommute encourages the community to get together by offering prizes for logging your commutes, Corporate Challenges, and RideMatcher, an online forum that connects riders looking for a partner. Although the month of May has been assigned National Bike to Work Month, many cities in San Diego have become bike friendly by designating full car sized lanes on the road for bicyclists as well as offering 1,340 miles of bikeways in the San Diego region. iCommute hopes to promote bicycling as an every day viable, environmentally friendly, and cost saving commute choice.
